Good hygiene all around is a key escentual to warding off any sickness- wash hands often, cover sneezees & coughs with tissue if possible so you don't carry germs on your clothing, along with plenty of rest, eat healthy and take extra vitamin C during flu season.

Yes, Empire Home Fitness will be opening on Saturday, October 24 at 10am. The Lakeside Pavillion opens on November 15th. There is also a new calendar store in the shopping center. Rumor has it that there are 2 tennants in a bid for the former Starbucks space (and the empty space next to it).

I sometimes get really freaked out about it but then I remember what victordspoils just said above and I feel better. I think it'll all be OK. The media likes to hype things up when there's nothing better to talk about.
Free KIDS meals « Result #21 on Aug 23, 2009, 5:00pm »
Hey all,
Due to the economy being what it is, I'm looking for area restaurants that provide some sort of incentive ... specifically FREE kids meals on certain days.
I know that Islands has theirs on Tuesdays, but does anyone have a list of other restaurants that do the same??
Re: Dos Lagos Phase II Rumors « Result #26 on Aug 11, 2009, 4:02pm »
I have seen some grading being done on the South end (Trader Joes side) of Dos Lagos in the large empty field. Is this is start of a new construction project over there? Does anyone know? I thought phase 2 was put on hold indefinitely, but was curious if this was a stand alone project...

"The Depot" is still there « Result #31 on Jul 20, 2009, 11:49am »
Had not visited The Depot saloon in a loooong time but with "Francies" (the greatest pub ever) shutting down we stopped in for lunch the other day. Always a friendly staff (some are ex-Francies) and the grill is open for lunch and dinner. This place has some serious history and maybe someone can elaborate on the details. Anyways....It's still under the main street bridge on Depot Street which is just off Railroad when you turn off Grand. Lunch is great. I hope they can burn up a good dinner too!

Re: The Counter « Result #38 on Jun 18, 2009, 12:11pm »
We tried it out on Friday June 12th as well.
Great beer selection as Victor pointed out.
We tried several beers, and only ordered the calamari appetizer, It was good. The burgers and fish and chips that other people ordered looked very good.
We sat at the bar, and really the only drawback (to me) was the bar stools are very uncomfortable. (I'm kind of a big guy and my wide ass didn't fit the stool well) ;-)
Re: The Counter « Result #40 on Jun 13, 2009, 10:03am »
We had fun last night at Alibi--didn't hurt that the Stanley Cup finals were on and the Pens beat the Wings!
First thing I have to say is that they have a great selection of beers on tap. As I suspected they had a large draft system installed. They have everything from the mass produced undrinkable beers (yup I'm a total beer-snob) to some of the finest brews in the world. Their fine beers are quite pricey and happy hour (4-7) only knocks a buck off but if you appreciate a great Belgian like Piraat or Delirium Tremens this is one of the few places where you'll find them on tap.
They have a decent little $5 menu with smaller plates so they don't have a discount on their appetizers. Prices are definitely lower than when they were The Counter. Burgers looked to run $8-10 and they come with fries. They have sandwiches and some traditional dinner options. We stuck with the $5 menu and had fun with it. My wife really enjoyed their curried chicken sandwich.
They were quite busy though there wasn't a wait. I have to believe they'll do better with the lower prices and pub-feel. We're going to try breakfast one of these days. I hope they succeed.
VDS

Has anyone had a chance to check them out now that they're open? I've been looking for a website so I can take a look at the menu but haven't had any success. Interestingly there's a restaurant with the same name in Indianapolis I believe.
Re: The Counter « Result #47 on Jun 9, 2009, 1:54pm »
My pleasure. In this economy a profitable happy hour seems vital to a restaurant's success. I think Taps relies heavily on the profits they make through their bar/happy hour. The dining room is often empty while the bar is packed. The "New Counter" (for lack of a better name) will hopefully tap into this area with an greatly expanded bar. I want to say (don't quote me) that he's looking to bring in at least 40 on-tap beers. I like Jeff/Geoff a lot and hope things work out for him.
